We started Seven Scents after aromatherapy helped our founder Shannon through her own recovery - so we believe in it for the simplest reason there is: we've felt it ourselves. We treat essential oils as self-care and ritual, not medicine. Every oil in this range is 100% pure and vegan, properly stored out of the light, and checked by us in the Lyall Bay studio before it ever reaches you.

Essential oil questions
Are your essential oils pure?
Yes - our single essential oils are 100% pure, with nothing cut in or watered down. Each one is steam-distilled or cold-pressed from the plant it names, and it's the pure oil in the bottle, full stop.The exception to this is our rollers which are made a blend of our pure essential oils with organic coconut oil.
Can I put essential oils straight on my skin?
Not neat - pure essential oils are concentrated and need diluting first. A safe starting point is around a 2% dilution, roughly 12 drops per 30ml of carrier oil, and always patch test on a small area before wider use. If you'd rather skip the mixing, our pre-diluted roller blends are ready to roll straight on.
How should I store them and how long do they last?
Keep them somewhere cool and dark with the lid on tight - heat and sunlight are what break oils down. Stored well, most last one to three years; citrus oils are the shortest-lived, so use those first. If a scent smells sharp or "off," it's had its day.
Are they safe around pets and kids?
Some oils aren't suitable around cats, dogs or young children, and it varies quite a bit oil by oil. Diffuse in a well-ventilated room, never in a closed space a pet can't leave, and check with your vet or a healthcare provider if you're unsure. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, get advice before use.
How do I use essential oils?
Most people add a few drops to an oil diffuser with water, which is the easiest way to scent a room and get the aromatherapy benefit. You can also blend them into a carrier oil for the skin, add them to a bath, or pop a drop on a tissue. Start with less than you think - a little goes a long way.
Can I visit the studio?
You're welcome to and we'd love to meet you! Our Lyall Bay studio is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm, and we're happy to open by appointment outside those hours if that suits you better. Come and have a smell in person; it's the best way to choose. Just flick us a message if you'd like to arrange a time outside our usual hours.
Are your products really made in New Zealand?
Yes! Everything is handcrafted in small batches in our studio in Lyall Bay, Wellington. It's a genuine Kiwi maker business, not drop-shipped or mass-produced, and every product is 100% vegan and cruelty-free. Tested on Shannon first, never on animals.
What's your returns policy?
We accept returns within 30 days on unopened items in their original condition - just get in touch and we'll sort it. For hygiene reasons, opened fragrance and skincare can't be returned unless they've arrived faulty or damaged, in which case we'll always make it right. If anything's not as it should be, tell us and we'll fix it.
How much is shipping and how fast is it?
We offer free shipping on orders over $125, with flat-rate delivery under that. Orders are dispatched within one to two business days - same day if you order before 12pm - and then it's in NZ Post's hands from there. You'll get tracking so you can follow it to your door.
