Thanks for stopping by. I'm Shannon, the founder of Seven Scents – your go-to for handcrafted aromatherapy and home fragrance, made with care in our Lyall Bay studio, Wellington.
A Bit About Me
I grew up in Rotorua and have had a few different lives along the way – I'm a former World Champion Black Fern (women's rugby) and a qualified commercial pilot and flying instructor.
At 32, completely out of the blue, I suffered a stroke. I was a fit, healthy young person – it was the last thing anyone expected. Overnight, I lost my aviation medical and was told I'd never fly again. I was devastated.
How Seven Scents Began
During my recovery, I was desperate to find something to help with the stress and anxiety I was feeling. I started researching herbal remedies, which led me to discovering essential oils and aromatherapy.
Honestly? I was sceptical at first. But through daily use, I noticed a real difference – less stress, better mood, and finally, some proper restful sleep. This former non-believer was hooked.
What started as a personal journey became a passion, and eventually, a business. That was over seven years ago, and today Seven Scents (originally Aromarrr) has grown from my kitchen experiments into a proper Wellington maker business.
