Fragrance oils are concentrated scent oils made for adding gorgeous fragrance to your home and the things you make. Add a few drops to a water-based oil diffuser or an oil burner to scent a room, or use them to make your own wax melts and candles, refresh potpourri, and scent homemade cleaning products. Because they're created rather than distilled from a plant, they open up scents you simply can't get from nature - warm bakery and vanilla, juicy fruits, tropical florals and rich dessert notes.

Every fragrance oil we stock is highly concentrated, so a little goes a long way - start small with a few drops in your oil diffuser, and build the scent to suit your space. They're for scenting projects, not for the skin; if you're after something wearable, our perfume oils and sprays are made for exactly that. And if it's a therapeutic benefit you're chasing rather than pure scent, that's the job of pure essential oils instead.

Fragrance oil questions

What's the difference between fragrance oils and essential oils?

Fragrance oils are scent oils created to smell a particular way - think bakery, tropical, or dessert scents you simply can't get from a plant. Essential oils are pure plant extracts used for aromatherapy. Fragrance oils give you a huge range of gorgeous scents, but they're for scenting things, not for therapeutic use. Both have their place - it just depends what you're after.

What can I use fragrance oils for?

They're brilliant in a water-based oil diffuser or oil burner to scent a room, for making your own wax melts and candles, and for freshening potpourri or scenting homemade cleaning products. Basically, anywhere you want to add scent to a space or a product rather than your skin. They're a maker's favourite.

Can I put fragrance oil on my skin?

No - fragrance oils aren't formulated for skin and shouldn't be applied to the body. If you're after something wearable, our perfume oils and perfume sprays are made for exactly that. Keep fragrance oils for your diffuser, melts, candles, and home projects.

Are they vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes - every fragrance oil we stock is 100% vegan and never tested on animals, the same as everything else in the range. Tested on Shannon first, never on animals. That's a promise across the whole studio, no exceptions. Every fragrance oil we stock also meets international IFRA safety standards for fragrance.

Are they safe to use around pets?

Fragrance oils used in an oil diffuser, wax melt or candle are generally fine in a well-ventilated space, but strong scent can bother some animals, so give pets a room they can leave. Never apply them to a pet or leave a warmer where one could knock it over. If your animal has breathing issues, go gently and watch how they react.

Can I visit the studio?

You're welcome to and we'd love to meet you! Our Lyall Bay studio is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm, and we're happy to open by appointment outside those hours if that suits you better. Come and have a smell in person; it's the best way to choose. Just flick us a message if you'd like to arrange a time outside our usual hours.

Are your products really made in New Zealand?

Yes! Everything is handcrafted in small batches in our studio in Lyall Bay, Wellington. It's a genuine Kiwi maker business, not drop-shipped or mass-produced, and every product is 100% vegan and cruelty-free. Tested on Shannon first, never on animals.

What's your returns policy?

We accept returns within 30 days on unopened items in their original condition - just get in touch and we'll sort it. For hygiene reasons, opened fragrance and skincare can't be returned unless they've arrived faulty or damaged, in which case we'll always make it right. If anything's not as it should be, tell us and we'll fix it.

How much is shipping and how fast is it?

We offer free shipping on orders over $125, with flat-rate delivery under that. Orders are dispatched within one to two business days - same day if you order before 12pm - and then it's in NZ Post's hands from there. You'll get tracking so you can follow it to your door.
